Marie Vergara

(Cherubs I: Lead Preschool Teacher)

Ms. Marie

Education:
I graduated Cum Laude from University of Washington in 2017 with a B.A. in Early Childhood and Family Studies. I also have a Dental Assisting Degree from Renton Technical College (2002).

Experience:
Prior to opening my own childcare: I worked as an afterschool teacher (Renton School District); camp counselor for King County Parks; floater in an intergenerational Japanese preschool in Seattle; and as a pediatric dental assistant (2002-2010). UW and Seattle Children’s Hospital opened The Center for Pediatric Dentistry in 2010, that is where I worked as the clinic supervisor until the birth of my second son in 2012. While I was a stay at home mom, I was able to find a wonderful family to work for as their nanny. In 2014, I expressed my interest in possibly adding more children to our group and start a licensed family home childcare. This is the birth of Cherubs Nursery School.

Personal:
I enjoy singing, dancing, acting, and all forms of art. My passion is to learn different pedagogical styles of teaching, and integrate that with my own philosophies. I had the privilege to visit Italy and study the Reggio Emilia approach with my colleagues and professors from UW. I would also like to travel to New Zealand someday, to visit the Hilltop Educator Institute.

Len Tamisin

(Cherubs II: Lead Preschool Teacher)

Teacher Len

Education:
I have my Certificate of Completion in Early Childhood Education and am currently enrolled in Renton Technical College working on a transfer degree for the Early Childhood and Family Studies program at the University of Washington.

Experience:
My passion for working with children stemmed from coming from a huge family full of children. I babysat my nieces and nephews throughout my high school days. Initially, I wanted to be a pediatric nurse but after helping my sister at her daycare being an on-call teacher for the summers and school breaks, I realized my passion was in Early Childhood development and education. I left my position at the Seattle Children’s Hospital in 2014 to teach full-time and have been committed and dedicated to fostering a nurturing, safe, and positive learning environment.

Personal:
When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, writing, playing my guitar, trying out new places to eat, being active and outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and just overall having fun and being a big kid!
